Killerbee uses ink excreted from his mouth to write down Kisame’s name in his notebook so he won’t forget his name. Kisame calls him an octopus bastard, Killebee gets heated up and activates his Bijuu shroud with seven tails. Killerbee makes his charge, but the blades of Kisame’s sword, Samehada, bend to deflect his thrust and throws him of balance. At the same time, Samehada consumes Killerbee’s Bijuu chakra, leaving him with only one tail left. Killerbee is impressed by how voracious it is and decides it’s time to try the next transformation.
Meanwhile, the Mizukage and Chijiro are continuing to track down Ao using the markers he had left behind. They are unaware that Ao’s body had been taken over by the Roots ninja named Fuu and that he was in a battle for his life at that moment. Fuu’s original plan had been to gouge out Ao’s Byakugan with a kunai even though it meant sacrificing his own eye in the process. However, the Kirigakure ANBU had taken steps to protect the only Byakugan in their possession and had Ao wear protective warding seals to stop any attempt at forcefully removing the eye. But Fuu has another plan, he attaches a scythe to a tree branch and positions himself to jump down towards it so as to decapitate himself. Fuu plans to switch back to his own body just as the blade makes contact with his neck, and come back to retrieve Ao’s head. But Ao warns him to cautious because if Fuu chickens out too early, he would regain control of his body in time to avoid the scythe.
Back at the battle between Killerbee and Kisame, Killerbee’s Bijuu the Hachibi tries to persuade his host to release a full transformation. But Killerbee rejects the idea because he is trying to stay hidden and Hachibi’s full form will inform everyone of his location. Instead, Killerbee borrows some of Hachibi’s chakra to activate version 2 of his Bijuu shroud which encases his body in black similar to Naruto’s four-tails transformation. A partial skeletal frame of a bull forms over his body including the skull of a bull.
Samehada is going crazy at the sight of so much chakra which Kisame estimates at nine times what Killerbee had before. The force of Killerbee’s charge gores both Kisame and his sword into the air. Kisame has a serious wound in his chest, but Samehada managed to consume enough of Killerbee’s charka to bring him back to his original Bijuu shroud. Kisame reaches for his sword and his wounds are instantly regenerated. Kisame’s sword had converted the chakra it consumed into stamina for Kisame to use to heal himself. Kisame explains to Killerbee that when he faces a stronger enemy, he also becomes stronger by the same proportion. The longer the battle goes on, the weaker the opponent becomes but Kisame only gets stronger.
Separating Samehada from Kisame would be the key to victory for Killerbee, but before he can act Kisame unleashes a Water Element jutsu to envelop the area inside a giant water dome. To make matters worse, he fuses with Samehada into a monstrous shark form.
