aprie van luden knowledge

Naruto returns to the village, with a little help from Kakashi and is greeted with cheers and opens arms. Kakashi and Iruka note on how much Naruto has changed from the boy they first met. Hinata weeps silent tears of joy while Sakura hits and embraces Naruto.

Tsunade has fallen into a coma, not letting her continue her rule as hokage, so the head ninjas and the lords of fire meet to discuss what they will do next. Danzo begins to nominate himself as Hokage, but Shikaku steps in and nominates Kakashi. Everyone seems to be in agreement, but Danzo speaks against it, reminding everyone what the Third Hokage has allowed, apparently convinced, the Lord of Fire changes his mind and appoints Danzo as the 6th Hokage.

Tobi meanwhile sends Kisame to hunt the 8-tails while he finds another to help with the sealing statue. The ninjas from the land of clouds also appear, shocked at the remains of the village.

Review:
“Hail to the Conquering Hero.” is what should be playing the background for the first seven pages. Naruto is lifted up by the villagers and hailed as their hero. Naruto has finally been acknowledged by the rest of the village which brings tears to Iruka’s eyes. I personally found this to be a nice conclusions to Naruto’s strive to be noticed by his home, which can now free up his character for working to achieve his late master’s goal.

Kishimoto squeezes alot into this only 17 or so pages. Kakashi’s nomination to be Hokage, (foreshadowed in chapter 367) came off quite expected and Danzo’s following outburst wasn’t that surprising as well. Kishimoto continues to push his “No more Business as Usual” feel for the manga by quickly setting up the stage for more conflict. This chapter really helps serves as a bridging point between the Pain arc, and the following events that are going to happen. With Tsunade in a coma, Akatsuki on the move, the Cloud Ninja arriving, Danzo the heir apparent to Hokage and Sasuke on a collision course with Konoha. It looks like this wild ride has only just begun.

Overall Grade 4.5 out of 5: An excellent build up chapter and helps tie in Naruto’s desire for acceptance and let the viewers know they aren’t going to have to wait long for more action. Only problem I can personally find with this chapter, is the cloud ninja, who may of been better placed in a chapter that isn’t right after the huge battle. Kind of took away.the joyful, but ominous feel of the chapter.[HL].
